Photos of the Day

I saw this out of my home office window tonight and had to grab a camera and get a clearer look.

I’m guessing that the sun light is blocked from below by the mountains to our west leaving radiant tops — pretty incredible. If I wasn’t half-naked when I ran out to get these photos, I would have run to the park with my EF 20mm 1:2.8 wide-angle to capture the whole row of clouds.

You’re doing what at Midnight?

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

So I came home from a meeting yesterday afternoon to a notice taped to my front door:

Hi we're moving a house a midnight!

I did a little exploring and realized that this house is a few doors away from me:

It should be quite the show as they round the corners and get to the power/cable/telco lines running across the street.

My neighbors suggested that the new owner is having the house moved to his property out of town rather than rip it down like everyone else — Now that’s a commitment to recycling.

Spring

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

I was walking by my front tree today and I saw one of the squirrels going to town on one of the stumps left by the tree guys a few months ago.

I then noticed that all the stumps left on the tree were running (literally dripping) with maple sap.

Looks like a few thousand gallons a minute pouring onto Baseline and then down the hill towards Broadway.

snow on the Flatirons

I was walking to the Boulder Open Coffee Club meeting this morning and saw the fresh snow on the Flatirons and foothills. The fact that it was 4F outside probably made the snow crystals extra shiny — much more alive than this photo.

This rather striking gadget duo was purchased by me in Hong Kong in 2005 for HK$20.00 (about US$2.00). The mobile phone and cash register are part of a larger line of glowing pink themed barbie-esque accessories branded — yes you guessed it — Benign Girl.

And here is the back of the package because where else are you going to read the phrase “Beautiful girl press any button?”

I plan on adding some non-photo related posts shortly, a handfull of user-reported Yallery bugs needed resolution over the last couple of days.
