And speaking of burning…

Friday, July 6th, 2007

My legs are burning less now than before I began this morning’s hike. That makes my new 2007 consecutive hike record two days in a row.

My next planned walk is in either in Menlo Park, at the foot of Marsh on the east side of 101, where they built paths around the old landfill — probably on Tuesday or Wednesday.

I don’t remember it being that difficult.

Since ending my last full-time position in Boulder (and especially since beginning work on Yallery), my metabolism has dropped from “very high” to non-existent. I have gained at least 40-50lbs, hereinafter named the “Yallery 50.”

I used to do the Mt. Sanitas Loop every morning at dawn without fail, as it is a short walk from my house. But with consulting outside of Boulder and then a non-stop need to code, or correspond or write documents I haven’t been exercising regularly in years (yes, a stupid excuse).

I went out this morning and began the walk at 7am. I can honestly say that it kicked my butt. It feels like I am carrying the extra 50lbs in addition to being so out of shape I should have done this ages ago. My Independence Day resolution is to return to doing the Mt. Sanitas loop every morning and lose at least half of the Yallery 50 by new years. Wish me luck.
